Other games at FMGC

Some photos of the other miniature wargames.

Here is one of the Bolt Action tables. Bolt action is a 28mm WW2 skirmish game.

This is a WW1 table made by one of the Marshals at the event. The view is looking down one of the trenches.

Here is a game of Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures game. This game is fast passed and looks like it could be loads of fun. I have played this game once before.

This is a photo of the Bolt Action game that I participated in. At this stage we were in the process of deploying our forces. The objective is the sand bags in the centre of the photo. This is a very tactical game with easy to learn rules. The only suggestion I can make when Game Mastering a miniature wargame at a convention is have the armies already deployed and just assign players a unit or army. After players are assigned units they can then alter their deployment within reason. This just speeds up the game so players can start rolling dice ASAP!.

Here is the link to I Will Never Grow Up Facebook photo album of the convention.

Game Day at Field Marshall Gaming Convention

I was really looking forward to doing this event. It gave me an excuse to paint up a lot of mini's I had laying about. I was still painting right up until the night before.

Looking down the table: 6' by 4'. Limited terrain. With 5 armies  on the table I tried to place terrain between each army to slow the slaughter...

The prize. Warpstone. Dead centre of the table.

My converted "snow" Orc's Unfortunately they didn't see any action.

The Vampire Counts. This is the army I used.

My blurry statue.

The Vampire counts making their slow advance for the Warpstone. High Elves on the right flank. Lizardmen to the left.

Action shot of the Skaven clan rats about to make a flank charge.

The High Elves making their move for the Warpstone. The Elves finally took the warpstone after beating off the Vampire Counts and holding off the Skaven.

I used a toned down version of Games Workshop's Triumph and Treachary. Used fewer event cards, no mercenaries, and no tokens.

I would like to thank Field Marshal Gaming Convention for hosting a great day. Great selection of board games and Miniature Wargames.

The Skaven army is ready

I don't know what it is with me and horde armies, but I keep painting them. Here is the Skaven contingent for Field Marshal Game Convention on September 6th.

The whole force, just missing the chieftain.

Close up of the yellow regiment and the warp fire thrower.

The poisoned wind mortar.

I like the new range of citadel paints, with the Skaven though, I used a different primer.

This stuff is in-expensive, covers the model well and dries quickly. But I think I still prefer good old GW black primer.
